What is Pink Eye? Pink eye, or conjunctivitis, is a disorder or irritation in the clear mucous membrane (the conjunctiva) that covers the white part of eye and the inside of the eyelids.
What are symptoms of conjunctivitis? Red or pink conjunctiva, swelling, discomfort or irritation, sensitivity to light, and discharge.
Is conjunctivitis contagious? Sometimes. If it is caused by bacteria or virus, the it is highly contagious.
How can I prevent the spread of conjunctivitis in childcare? Wash hands thoroughly and frequently, teach children to avoid sharing food or drink, keep toys and other objects clean.
